A number of years ago I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a pre-graduate degree in Art. Well, by the time I graduated I wanted nothing more to do with school so I entered the workforce. This took the form of various low paying jobs until I joined the Minnesota Air National Guard as a videographer/media specialist. It was during this time in the 1990's that I was introduced and gained an interest in computers. My exposure was primarily in computer graphics and the early video and digital photography applications. I had begun to build a technology background, but after eight years I resigned and began working in the construction trades where I ended up as a cabinetmaker. With the down turn in the economy the building trades were devastated. That included the custom cabinet industry.
What's a guy to do? After a bit of training to learn Koolmoves and ActionScrpt, and after building a website for my cabinet shop I determined that I enjoyed the Information Technology field. I realized if I wanted to progress I would need to get some serious training. I enrolled in online graduate school with Kaplan University to begin work on a Master of Science in Information Technology degree.
Who would have ever thought that a little inexpensive flash animation program would lead to such things? Just don't ask me to fix your computer - I don't know how - that's why I'm in school!
That's a great story. Never too late to learn something new eh?
